Published: Jose Villa Workshop

A couple months ago, I had the honor of designing the stationery for a workshop that Jose Villa and Jill LaFleur were putting together.

The concept was anthropologie meets restoration hardware.  When I first saw these images, I was completely blown away.  Between Jose's images, Jill's styling, and the awesome team of vendors, this design came out beautifully and has actually been published on Style Me Pretty.  You can check out the full post here.

Custom Stationery Set

This client gets major points for such a thoughtful gift.  She came to me to create some custom stationery for her son's 3 teachers.  Because we were short on time and also to eliminate the custom design fee, we used design elements from previous custom invitations.  Each set comes complete with envelope liners and wrapped in a pretty package.  I would have loved to receive personalized note cards when I was teaching, so I sure hope these teachers enjoyed their gift.

A Green Wedding: Custom Invitations

Ashley and Stephen fell in love and are getting married in Portland, Oregon.  To honor the city they love and call home, they came up with the idea of using a Portland City skyline and bridge illustration.  The wedding is being held at an environmentally sound venue called EcoTrust, complete with recylced tire flooring.  Being eco-friendly is a key element to their wedding, so we printed them on 100& recycled chipboard and used 100% cotton (tree-free) cardstock for the details cards and envelopes.  Mint green baker's twine is wrapped around each invitation package and holds the double-sided details card with a custom created map and the response card.

The Launch of DIY Studio

I am beyond excited to introduce you to a new concept here at Paper and Thread...DIY Studio.  Here's how the process works

-design: we design your fully custom or semi-custom (based on a previous custom design) invitations.

-printing: you pay a la carte pricing for the paper, printing and cutting fees

-assembly: I supply the materials and the guidance and you (and your team) make the invitations.

The assembly time varies greatly depending on the fun extras you choose (belly bands, envelope liners, embellishments, stitching, layering) and you also pay to use the studio.

Haley and her crew were the first to come in and take advantage of this great savings.  They were so sweet and fun and even brought a little bubbly to make the evening more festive.  I was right there with my teaching skills to guide each worker bee through the process and it worked out great. They also brought stamps and were able to stuff all of the envelopes. Thanks so much to Haley and her friends and family.  You ladies were excellent crafters and made my job so fun.

In all, Haley's invitation suite consisted of:

--invitation and postcard, both layered with a piece of colored cardstock

--belly band with layered monogram with pearl embellishment

--envelope liners

A huge thank you to Laura Christin, who took these beautiful pictures.  Laura is a great local wedding photographer, so be sure to check out her other work.

Spanish Tile Inspired Wedding Invitations

When I first met with this sweet couple and their coordinator/stylist Christina, I could not contain my excitement. Their save the dates were an awesome design challenge for me and so their invitations had to wow their guests again and in a completely new way.  In keeping with their Latin inspired wedding, we used Spanish tile designs and a festive color palette of purple and burnt orange.  These were digitally printed on 100% cotton letterpress paper, which allowed us to print some of the invitations in Spanish and some in English and use a lot of color without going over budget.

Congratulations Griselda and Humberto!  You two make such a lovely couple and I'm so lucky to have been a part of your wedding.
